Department of Computer Science
I. Brief History of the Department
The Department of Computer Science began preparations for the undergraduate program in the 2004 academic year, and started admitting undergraduate students in the 2005 academic year.
The Master's program began its preparation in the 2003 academic year and started enrolling graduate students in the 2004 academic year.
The Executive Master's program (for working professionals) was approved for preparation in the 2007 academic year and began admitting students in the 2008 academic year.
II. Educational Objectives and Features
The Department of Computer Science aims to cultivate high-level professionals in the field of information science and technology. Our teaching and research focus on three major areas: Networking and Communications, Computer Systems, and Intelligent Technologies.
To meet the demands of the information era, lifelong learning has become a prevailing trend. Continuing education in the field of information science is an essential component of lifelong education.
Undergraduate Program – Educational Objectives
- To equip students with a solid foundation in theoretical knowledge and practical skills in information science.
- To develop students' abilities to identify, analyze, interpret, and solve problems effectively.
Graduate Program – Educational Objectives
- To nurture professionals with advanced knowledge in emerging information technologies, as well as expertise in software/hardware system design and interdisciplinary integration.
- To develop high-level research and development personnel with innovative thinking and independent research capabilities in information science and engineering.
III. Curriculum Philosophy
- The curriculum of the Department is structured around three main instructional areas: Networking and Communications, Computer Systems, and Intelligent Technologies.
- Applicants to the Master’s program are not limited to graduates from computer science-related fields. Those who hold a bachelor’s degree from a domestic or international university recognized by the Ministry of Education, or who meet equivalent qualifications, are eligible to apply.
- Applicants to the Executive Master’s program are also not limited to graduates from computer science-related fields. Eligible candidates must:
- Hold a bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification from a domestic or international university recognized by the Ministry of Education.
- Be currently employed full-time.
- Male applicants (non-voluntary military service) must have completed military service or be exempt from it, and possess relevant work experience.
- Female applicants must also have relevant work experience.
